COPD Assessment Test - An introduction for patients
For patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Make the most of visits to your doctor with the COPD Assessment Test (CAT)
Are you living life to your full potential?
When you have COPD, it might be hard to remember what it feels like to go about your daily life without any difficulties. But there are ways to manage COPD that may help you get closer to the life you want to lead.
The COPD Assessment Test (CAT) is an opportunity to pause and consider just how COPD affects your everyday life.
What is the CAT?
The CAT is a validated tool, made up of eight simple questions that explore how COPD impacts your daily life, and how this might change over time.
Each question is scored from 0-5. Your total score will give your doctor or nurse an idea of how much your COPD affects your daily life, and provides an easy way to track your condition from one visit to the next.
It’s useful to bring a completed CAT the next time you see your healthcare professional. This can help guide the conversation and ensure you get the most from your visit.
